I always say there is no bad time of year to do a family photoshoot! I am a firm believer that there is beauty to be found in every season! And to prove it, I wanted to share a few pictures from a winter family photoshoot from early this year.

I did this shoot with the Wright family in February, and the grey day made for some really nice lighting for portraits. Towards the end of the session, the sun made an appearance and gave us some sun flare for a few photos, too.

I loved the sibling dynamics in this family. Since my own kids also consist of older boy siblings and the baby girl sibling, their interactions felt very familiar!

Another thing I know to be true about family portraits, and just having kids in general, is that every age offers something special and unique, so it’s always worth capturing on camera.

Styling Tips for Any Season

Pretty much any season except for summer provides another great opportunity for photos—layering! Maximize your family’s fashion by layering shirts and jackets like the Wright boys did! Layering creates more visual interest, allows for more personality to shine, and a wider color palette.
